Christopher Nolan is one of the biggest names in movie directing in the modern era of Hollywood. With titles such as “Interstellar,” “The Dark Knight,” and “Inception” under his belt, Nolan has become one of the most sough-after….
Nope. I’m not going to do that. Don’t you hate when you see an interesting headline in your newsfeed, you click on it, and it takes the writer 6-7 paragraphs of telling you things you already knew before they get to the subject of the headline…only to find that the headline was crap to begin with?
I wouldn’t put you through that. Those folks are just stalling you so some auto-play video ad they’re getting paid for can run for a few extra seconds. That’s not why I’m here.
I recently read a story in which Nolan had to assure upset fans that he did not actually explode an atomic bomb in the making of his upcoming film, “Oppenheimer.”
“It’s flattering that people would think I would be capable of something as extreme as that on the one hand, but it’s also a little bit scary,” Nolan told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published on Friday and conducted prior to the start of the actors’ strike.
Let’s think about this for a second. A number of people actually thought that a movie director would set off an atomic bomb for the sake of making a movie? When the United States actually did drop two of J Robert Oppenheimer’s atomic bombs on Japan, some 200,000 people were killed between the two Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It brought about a swift and decisive end to World War II, with Japan surrendering less than a month after the historic bombing.
Modern nuclear bombs are drastically more lethal, with a single bomb having the capability of taking out a city like Dallas and killing every living thing for miles around.
So no, Christopher Nolan did not set off a nuclear bomb during the filming of “Oppenheimer.”
What’s more, it’s absurd that anyone would think he did. It’s a sad testament to the lack of common sense in our country, to be honest.
Now, while you’re waiting for “Oppenheimer” go see “Indiana Jones and Dial of Destiny.” It’s fabulous!
